As you will note the dodecahedron dome of my Raptor Domes Kits™ is in a CURVED shape. A research project was done asking participants to determine the SHAPE that was most PLEASING to them and CURVED ones overwhelmingly were selected!

So why is this true?

Sally Coulthard in her Biophilia offers this:

“One idea is that the human brain is highly adapted for processing these particular kinds of shape in the natural world. Shallow, undulating and gentle curves – the theory suggests – remind us of living organisms, especially the movement and shape of muscles and soft tissue.”

She continues:

” Interestingly, in a different study that analyzed what kinds of architecture and interiors people preferred – comparing rounded, oval and curved features to boxy elements and hard lines, the rooms with ‘rounded décor’ produced significantly more brain activity. More than that, the test participants were also more likely to say a room was ‘beautiful’ when it was full of curves, oblong sofas, circular rugs, oval and looping floor patterns.”
