Creating A Trop Dome™ Part 7
As mentioned before COLOR is very important in using BIOPHILIA according to Sally Coulthard in her Biophilia.
I personally like the COOL colors in the BLUE and GREEN families. Of course there are the BROWNS, YELLOWS, ORANGES and REDS for the WARM colors.
Since my Trop Dome™ lends itself to CALMNESS I see more of the COOL colors especially in the bathrooms, where you are finding people wanting a spa-like atmosphere.
I like the WARM colors to add pop to my ClassZMinimalism™ especially with pillows, paintings, and even furniture coverings.
Here is what Sally says:
“Studies have shown that intense, vivid expressions of colour increase our feelings of excitement, whereas weaker, washed-out versions of a colour are much more calming, regardless of hue.”
So even washed out WARM colors can help with CALMNESS.
Further more she says:
“Reactions to colour also change with age. Research suggests that children up to the age of three tend to prefer bright, primary colours – especially red – more than pale pastels, and enjoy being around vivid warm hues such as orange, yellow and pink. Children also rarely like greys or black. As we age, our preferences seem to change. Adults tend to have a strong liking for colours in short wavelengths – such as blues and greens – and have much less preference for the longer wavelength, warm colours such as reds, oranges and yellows. In our sixties and beyond, our preference then seems to revert back to our childhood favourites – the bright, primary colours, possibly a function of physical changes in our eyes and how we perceive colour in later life.”
I am 77 years young and must be the oddball for I still prefer the COOL colors!
